Ironic Ghost Crab bug in the Shadowlands Beta
October 03 2020
The development of major updates and additions often leads to unexpected problems, and a recent such problem has happened with a hunter pet named Ghostcrawler, whose Nerfbat skill suddenly began to inflict huge damage and easily destroy any opponents.
The funny thing about this situation is that the Ghostcrawler is an easter egg on Greg Street, known as Ghostcrawler, who from 2008 to 2013 worked as the lead systems designer for World of Warcraft. According to the community, he was pretty tough with the classes and liked to nerf them from time to time – especially for warriors and warlocks, and for the magicians, whom he preferred to play, almost never. The developers themselves were aware of such community sentiments, so they introduced a pet for hunters and endowed it with the “Nerfbat” skill that broke in the Shadowlands beta version, which now “nerf” not only enemy players, but everyone in general.
